"I may be a sissy, but my list is better" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 18:12:10

This pass. The Birmingham News ran a feature on tearjerker films. It stemmed from a Washington Post article about. The accompanying though was horrible -- there was so little on it to get populate talking. I convey: The Birmingham News itself did a much better job with on the Pop + grow divide front including glaring omissions from the Post's enumerate like I don't accept with all their picks either but that's the point -- it's a springboard for discussion. At least their list made more sense. So here's where I check my testosterone at the door and tailor my own top 10 enumerate. I adjudge it: These movies alter me cry. (**Warning: Descriptions will consider spoilers**) 1. Grave of the Fireflies -- OK so I chided The affix for picking movies no one had seen and that's the first thing I do on my enumerate. But you see this one. Roger Ebert change surface. It's a story about two children in WWII lacquer. They suffer their parents in the bombings get cast out by relatives who dislike taking compassionate of them and end up living in a core out stealing food from farms. Their lives continually turn downward as they struggle to survive. My eyes were wet through almost the entire movie. 2. handle of Dreams -- It's bad enough when Doc crosses the line marking the edge of the field giving up his refound youth to deliver the little girl. But then comes the end with Kevin Costner's line that just trips the faucet -- "Hey. Dad. You wanna undergo a surprise?" 3. The Incredibles -- Elastigirl has just discovered that her children have stowed away on her cut then suddenly missiles are headed for the aircraft. You can hear the terror in her voice as she begs the island to disarm the missles while simultaneously pleading with her daughter to shield the plane. With Violet too scared to act though. Elastigirl does what any mother would do and lurches to embrace her kids at the measure second hoping to protect them. 4. Dead Poets Society -- When the students led by Ethan Hawke show their support for Professor Keating by standing upon their desks with the cry. "Oh head my captain." 5. Toy Story 2 -- Jessie relays the story of Emily her previous owner who once played with her as a favorite toy only to grow up and forget about her. You can see Jessie's eyes full of wish as she's discovered under the bed years later but then her look of confusion when she's left in a donation box is heartbreaking. 6. Titanic -- Not the scene that makes everybody else cry -- bring up's frozen death just doesn't act me that much. There's a more subtle moment when the quartet stops playing and each member turns to go their separate ways. However immediately realizing their fate they go and mouth playing again choosing to die doing what they like most. 7. Finding Neverland -- Tinkerbell's near-death is the scene that J. M. Barrie wrote to act the audience and tug at their heartstrings but seeing the theatre full of children who truly clap to bring her back to life makes it all the more touching. 8. The Iron Giant -- The ambiguously sentimental giant/mindless killing machine hears his young friend's voice reminding him. "You are what you choose to be." As the robot casts himself toward the assail that ordain destroy the town he closes his eyes and says. "Superman." 9. In the label of the Father -- Finally vindicated after spending years in prison the "Guilford Four" walk out of the courtroom to screaming supporters. It's triumphant and tragic at the same time as Gerry Conlon's father who died in prison is not among the names acquitted. 10. Bowling for Columbine -- Maybe this one's not fair to consider since it's a documentary (that's why I've listed it at #10) but the scene that plays the Columbine security camera tapes in four corners of the screen overlaid with the sound of the 911 calls would leave anyone weeping. I think your list is pretty great. The Notebook would undergo been at the top of exploit though. I don't really believe myself a fan of cheesy romantic movies like that but I adore The Notebook. Re: Titanic - I don't like the movie but the scene that makes me cry is the elderly couple holding hands on the bed. Re: Finding Neverland - SUCH a great movie! I always disunite up when the children start clapping. Re: In the Name of the create - another great movie that most populate wouldn't think of as a tearjerker. apply to all content you transfer or otherwise submit to this place.
