This is the report for Panty Explosion's first year of sales. I've open it useful and informative when other populate undergo posted similar reports in the past. Hopefully someone ordain get something out of this report as come up. Matt and I released Panty Explosion at Gencon 2006. It's been one year and a few week since the book has been available. Our goal and expectation was to sell 250 copies of the book. We did a little better then that.1294 copies sold since August 2006. It's worth mentioning that this number is not accurate. I was keeping track of sales on my computer early on and I had a bad come down that pretty much wiped my drives last October (since then I keep hard copy records) So September 2006 is lost. I've done my best to conjecture the data. It isn't actually too hard to evaluate out how many physical books we sold during that time since I could easily take an inventory of te books we still had available but I've had to alter a beat guess for PDF sales through our site. At the time I remember we were selling on add up 2 PDFs per day so I guessed conservative and estimated that we sold about 25 PDFs in September 2006. This seems right to me. Here's a enumerate of the places we've sold Panty explosion over the measure yearGencon. August 2006Atarashi Games onlne store. August 2006DrivethruRPG. September 2006ENWorld. September 2006Lulu. Our primary sales source is our own site where we change to both gamers and retailers. Here's an estimated sales breakdown. Sales through Atarashi Games store: 479 (272 books. 207 PDFs)Sales through distribution: 396Sales through 3rd party (IPR. Lulu and Key20): 208Sales through PDF 3rd celebrate: 211Notes:- More then half our sales from the Atarashi Games store are shipped to overseas customers. Our top 5 foreign buyers are England. Japan. Norway. South Korea and Spain. -IPR didn't acquire copies of Panty Explosion until after the schedule had already been available for several months. When IPR sold out in late 2006 we were only able to send them 8 books to fill their stock. Those sold fast as well. As a result. IPR has been effectivly sold out of the schedule all year. Sloppy planing on my part has resulted in poor sales for IPR. I conclude the schedule could undergo done exceed there otherwise. As I mentioned to you before the downside of doing business with distributors is that we see less money per boo. The numbers look something like this:Sales through Atarashi Games: $20/per bookSales through Distributors: $6/bookSales through IPR: $18/book (I think?)Direct sales to stores through Atarashi: $10This doesn't consider any costs of course. Books cost us about $3 to create so we make about $17 on copies sold through our own site and at cons. That's good shit. The downside is that we only make about $3 on books sold to distributors. That's bad shit. The increased visabilty from distributors is great and has brought us a larger audience. But $3 a write isn't that great and I suspect (as you suggested) that we might have sold a lot more through IPR and other sources if the book wasn't available in distribution. That's a hell of a what if huh?
