Home Occupation Text AmendmentAs required by law for changes to the zoning ordinance the City Council ordain hold a public hearing at its next regularly scheduled meeting on November 15. 2007 to consider the proposed changes to the domiciliate Occupation Ordinance for second read. Veterans' Day Celebration Postponed to Memorial DayThe Veterans' Day celebration originally planned for Nov. 10 has been postponed to Memorial Day pass in May. 2008 because of logistics. Several active components of the U. S military are involved and official participation was greater than expected. By delaying this until next spring we have the opportunity to add several interesting features to our celebration and to do it in warmer weather. More details will follow as planning develops.

Pursuant to Georgia Municipal Election Code. divide 21-2-291 the scheduled City of Berkeley Lake General Election for November 6. 2007 will not be conducted. Two candidates qualified for two at-large seats of council and the incubment candidate qualified for the post of mayor. Each such unopposed candidate shall be deemed to have voted for him/herself.
Berkeley Lake 2030 Comprehensive intend The City of Berkeley Lake is undertaking a Comprehensive Plan update in accordance with Georgia Department of Community Affairs Standards and Procedures for Local Comprehensive Planning as adopted in May 2005. On September 20. 2007 the City held an introductory meeting and public hearing. Following that meeting. City Council at their regularly scheduled council meeting voted to approve transmittal of the Community Participation Program component of the Comprehensive Plan to the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) for review.
Directory The latest City directory is available for pick-up in City Hall Monday-Thursday from 11 am to 4 pm. Any citizen who has not received a copy can choose one up at his or her convenience between those hours.
2007 Millage Rate At the special called June 14th Council meeting. City Council approved the 2007 millage rate at 4.1mills. This millage rate is the same as last year's but represents a 3.56% increase over the rollback rate.
This millage rate is for the 2007 operational budget adopted by Council on January 18. 2007. This year's budget was adopted with the usage of $39,550 from the City's reserve. The proposed millage rate of 4.1 is expected to give revenue for this year's calculate that would reduce the be required from the reserves to $24,477.
